What are the Different Low-Carb Diets?

There are numerous plans that support low carb diets. The most popular of these are:

  • • Atkins Diet was first introduced in 1972. Dr. Atkins taught a principle on nutrition that comprises limiting processed foods and includes nutrient-rich whole foods and nutritional supplements.
  • • Protein Power limits all refined carbohydrates. These types of carbohydrates are processed just as sugar is by the body, thus causing an imbalance of blood sugar.
  • • Sugar Busters teaches that you can lose weight and be healthy by balancing blood sugar levels by eating high fiber vegetables, lean meats and unsaturated fats.
  • • The Zone in this plan, you have to follow an eating ratio of 40 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat.
  • • Insulin Resistance Diet is founded on the principle that carbohydrates are addictive and cause your body to produce too much insulin. Therefore control your insulin to lose weight.
