Reasons why people go into low carb diets

You might not know it, but low carb diets have a lot of benefits aside from the promised weight loss. People who are on low carb diets have been subjects of different studies in the past, and through these diets, researchers were able to find out that there is so much more in low carb diets than meets the eye.


Of course, one of these benefits is weight loss. Even if you do not watch your calorie intake, as long as you cut down on carbohydrate groups such as starch and sugar, you are sure to lose weight. Low carb diets also benefit diabetics since they reduce blood glucose levels and increases high density lipoproteins (HDL), also called as “good cholesterol.” Sensitivity to insulin is also improved, which is another advantage for diabetic patients. Blood pressure also decreases as a result of low carb diets. One type of low carb diet, called the ketogenic diet, is also used to treat seizure disorders.
