Lose weight the Atkins way

When we hear about low carb diets, the first diet that pops into our mind is the Atkins diet. Officially dubbed as the Atkins Nutritional Approach, the Atkins diet is perhaps the most popular low carb diet in the world, mainly because of the craze and controversy surrounding it. In 2003 alone, three million Americans were reported to be using this diet plan.

Its popularity can be attributed to the fact that you can still eat high fat and high protein foods, such as steaks and eggs, while you are on diet. The Atkins diet claims that if you eat low carb and high fat foods, you are going to burn your fats easily because the body metabolizes the fats due to lack of carbohydrates. Makes sense, right?

But of course, the Atkins diet has its own drawbacks, such as the high cost of ingredients, risk for heart disease, and short term weight loss. In the end, it is all up to you if you are willing to give it a try despite the risks involved.
